What this time card calculator does

This free weekly time card calculator turns your daily clock-in and clock-out times into total hours worked and gross pay. It handles unpaid breaks, supports overtime at 1.5× after 40 hours, and works entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded or stored on a server.

How weekly hours are calculated

For each day, the calculator finds the difference between your Time Out and Time In, then subtracts your break minutes. Daily totals are summed for the week. If overtime is enabled, hours over 40 are paid at 1.5× your regular rate. For a deeper explanation, read our guide on how to calculate overtime pay.

The 7-minute rounding rule

Some employers round clock times to the nearest quarter-hour. Under the FLSA's common rounding practice, minutes 1–7 past a quarter-hour round down and minutes 8–14 round up, so rounding must be neutral over time and cannot systematically shortchange employees. If your workplace rounds, enter your rounded times to match your paycheck.

State-specific overtime

If you work in a state with daily overtime — such as California, Alaska, or Nevada — use a state time card calculator that applies daily thresholds. Otherwise, the standard federal 40-hour weekly rule applies.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate hours worked from clock-in and clock-out times?

Subtract your start time from your end time, then subtract unpaid break minutes. For example, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a 30-minute break is 7.5 hours.

Does this time card calculator handle overtime?

Yes. Toggle overtime on to pay hours over 40 in the week at 1.5× your regular rate. For daily overtime states, use the matching state calculator.

Are my time card entries saved?

Your entries and pay rate are saved only in your own browser's local storage for convenience. Nothing is sent to a server.

Can I print my time card?

Yes. Use the Print / Save PDF button to generate a clean printable time card for payroll or your own records.
